Finding one’s worth and identity in the creator redefines what is important and what is not. Additionally, behind the Bible there is a nighttime reflection on a window (many see this as only a mirror and I begrudgingly a life these viewer’s their interpretation). This reflection reveals a reality that is only poking through dimly (illustrated with the image of dark trees outside). The reality we perceive is often very different from what actually is, and the darkness reaching in is often completely invisible to us, so we must keep a light to guide our steps

Year: 2026

Dimensions: 24.0″ × 18.0″

This colored pencil Crucifix was an attempt at embodying my faith in a piece of art. I now realize how complicated and absurd the thought of embodying one’s faith, life, and relationship in one piece is, but the result was quite interesting. Most interesting is that I used no reference, and therefore the subject carries some resemblance to myself (I completed this while working on a self portrait series for school). There is something disturbing about seeing yourself in the crucifix. Dies it reflect an internal pride or savior concept? Does it reflect the need for sacrifice? Or, dues it reflect the representative power of Christ the priest and sacrifice who is like us in all our ways?

Year: 2026

Dimensions: 14.0″ × 11.0″
