Book, Camera, Dresser

Original oil painted on deep profile wrapped canvas. I handcrafted the wood float-style frame using reclaimed oak slats used in local Finger Lakes wine production. This original oil painting transports you to a 1960s teen girl’s room during a carefree summer. Featuring a vintage Kodak Instamatic Hawkeye camera with a fresh flash cube, resting atop the classic Barbie’s Hawaiian Holiday novel, this illustration captures the essence of leisure time — reading the latest Barbie adventure and snapping photos on long summer days. This contemporary realistic still life painting is perfect for fans of vintage Barbie collectibles, retro photography, and mid-century Americana. I hope this piece not only offers a charming glimpse into 1960s youth and summertime fun, but also brings a sense of nostalgia and joy for vintage camera collectors and Barbie enthusiasts alike. When there is more than one item in my still life paintings, I will often choose them by ensuring that the first letter of each is consecutive in the alphabet. For this painting, Book, Camera, Dresser the consecutive letters are B, C and D.
