December errands

So many cars these days are carrying trees on their rooftops. These trees will travel far and wide to brighten up a home, be colorfully adorned, and be lit in an annual tradition. These traveling trees become a place of gathering and celebration for dwellers and visitors alike. This driver is travelling in the family’s old truck through the Blue Ridge Mountains with a darling, long-term companion dog named Coal. They will surprise the family with this scented tree. You may even be able to hear the carols and intercept the joyful thoughts from this truck: breathe deeply and slowly, and the tunes may reach you. When I see these traveling trees, I imagine a glorious fresh scent of juniper, spruce, and balsam fir. May this scent fill our hearts and remind us to celebrate the joy of being alive.
