Gentle hills and the winding road

Uruguay is best known for its safe and gorgeous beaches and timeless fishing villages. Less known are its rural farming hamlets and the hilly countryside. Olive groves and vineyards hand from green rolling hills. Winding roads make your jaw drop with delight. Small plots of plowed land adorn the sides of the roads, while vibrant streams and ponds host weeping willows, migrant birds and visitors. Sheep roam peacefully close to strawberry fields and orange orchards. The steep winding road forces you to slow down and appreciate the beauty of these low, old hills, some of which cut perpendicularly through the landscape. Best you can do is roll down your windows and let the freshets of air fill your lungs and enrich your experience of being alive. The little town up the road is coincidentally called Pueblo Edén (Eden hamlet). Many believe it to be a piece of heaven nestled between gentle hills and the sea in the province of Maldonado, in Uruguay.
